Rodrigo Chanes is a mining engineer, working on framework conditions and knowledge base related to the non-energy raw materials sector. With over fifteen years of experience in the extractive sector, he previously worked in the Spanish Standardization Institute (AENOR) in the field of energy and natural resources extraction and as associated researcher in the Spanish Geological Survey (IGME). In 2008 he became an official of the Spanish Administration and joined the Spain Corp of Mining Engineers. At the Spanish Ministry of Energy and Tourism he was Head of the Mine and Safety Unit, the international area at the Mining Directorate, and Head of Service for Energy and Environment.

He has a Degree in Mining Engineering by the Polytechnic University of Madrid and a Master

Specialization on Energy and Environmental Management by CEPADE (Polytechnic University of Madrid).
