Susanne is head of Resources Innovation Center – RIC Leoben – at Montanuniversitaet Leoben (University of Leoben), Austria which houses the institution’s participation in the EIT RawMaterials, EIT Climate-KIC, its SDG and sustainability actions. Parallel to this position she is also still pursuing her position as head of the university’s international department. Despite the twofold function, she has always been passionately involved in her work and the symbiotic development of both centers. Susanne’s vision is a comprehensive internationalization of her institution through long lasting, stable and strong quality partnerships with other universities.
At the Resources Innovation Center the area of education and the creation of visibility of the raw materials sector has become a focus area as well as integrating the university’s raw materials activities into sustainable development, circular economy and climate action initiatives to promote the development of responsible resources consumption and production. Susanne is active in networking in several relevant stakeholder groups, for example as Sherpa in the High Level Steering Group of the European Innovation Partnership on Raw Materials or the institutions Sustainable Development Panel. She is currently pursuing a PhD regarding the responsible production cycle of Aluminium in the light of SDG12.
